v110SE Front Channel Mode

I'm a new owner of a v110SE (with VT150). I'm using the Front Channel mode with my Arcam AVR20 processor for home cinema (for music I use a DAC directly connected). I'm having two problems:
1. if the v110SE is in Eco mode, it shuts down after the nine minutes, even when playing out in front channel mode
2. the volume through the v100SE is very low indeed - far below what I can compensate for on the surround channels
is there anything I can do about this, or does front channel mode simply not work well?
